Battle of Movie Moments: The Torture of the Gingerbread Man vs. A Dynamite Rabbit

Your Champion
The Torture of the Gingerbread Man (Shrek)

VS

A Dynamite Rabbit (Monty Python and the Holy Grail)

The Case for The Torture of the Gingerbread Man (3):
Shrek had more than its fair share of lazy jokes.  But in one of its more inspired moments, the evil Lord Farquaad (John Lithgow) - in an attempt to get information on the whereabouts of the Magic Mirror - captures and forces the Gingerbread Man to tell what he knows using methods that are quite extreme for someone made out of cookie.

Your Challenger
The Torture of the Gingerbread Man (Shrek)

VS

Scotty Doesn't Know (Eurotrip)

The Case for The Torture of the Gingerbread Man (2):

The Case for Scotty Doesn't Know:
If your girlfriend is going to cheat on you, break up with you right after graduation, and have her new boyfriend write a song about her infidelity, hopefully it will be as catchy as this song from Eurotrip.  (And yes, that is Matt Damon playing the douchey new boyfriend)

The Case for Bohemian Rhapsody Sing-a-Long (3):
The opening of Wayne's World adhered to one universal truth:  When Bohemian Rhapsody plays, you sing along with it.  Every time.

VS

Here's Where I Stand (Camp)

The Case for Bohemian Rhapsody Sing-a-Long (2):
The opening of Wayne's World adhered to one universal truth:  When Bohemian Rhapsody plays, you sing along with it.  Every time.

The Case for Here's Where I Stand:
Throughout Camp, Jenna (Tiffany Taylor, 18 at the time) has a quieter plotline - mostly because her jaws are wired shut in an extreme attempt by her father to make her lose weight.  Her story line comes to fruition on performance night, however, when she has to step in for another performer and turn their song into an anthem for herself.

Battle of Movie Moments: The Exorcism of Jonah Hill vs. Bohemian Rhapsody Sing-a-Long

Your Champion
The Exorcism of Jonah Hill (This Is The End)

VS.

Bohemian Rhapsody Sing-a-Long (Wayne's World)

The Case for The Exorcism of Jonah Hill (4):
Things go south very quickly for the cast of This Is The End, culminating in the demonic possession of Jonah Hill.  His friends gather around to try to exorcise him of the demon in what starts off as a fairly serious scene.  Then it becomes clear that Jay (Jay Baruchal) has no idea what he is doing, and it degenerates from that point on until (hilariously) no one is even paying attention to the demon possessed person they share a room with.

Battle of Movie Moments: The Exorcism of Jonah Hill vs. Once Upon a December

Your Champion
The Exorcism of Jonah Hill (This Is The End)

VS.

Once Upon a December (Anastasia)

The Case for The Exorcism of Jonah Hill (3):
Things go south very quickly for the cast of This Is The End, culminating in the demonic possession of Jonah Hill.  His friends gather around to try to exorcise him of the demon in what starts off as a fairly serious scene.  Then it becomes clear that Jay (Jay Baruchal) has no idea what he is doing, and it degenerates from that point on until (hilariously) no one is even paying attention to the demon possessed person they share a room with.

The Case for Once Upon a December:
A beautiful song about a past she doesn't know, this moment in Anastasia - sung by the title character - is hauntingly beautiful.  Sung as she wanders the deserted palace, the animators show off their abilities as the palace transforms to her childhood recollection of it.

Battle of Movie Moments: The Exorcism of Jonah Hill vs Mirror Monologue

Your Champion
The Exorcism of Jonah Hill (This Is The End)

VS.

Mirror Monologue (25th Hour)

The Case for The Exorcism of Jonah Hill (2):
Things go south very quickly for the cast of This Is The End, culminating in the demonic possession of Jonah Hill.  His friends gather around to try to exorcise him of the demon in what starts off as a fairly serious scene.  Then it becomes clear that Jay (Jay Baruchal) has no idea what he is doing, and it degenerates from that point on until (hilariously) no one is even paying attention to the demon possessed person they share a room with.

The Case for Mirror Monologue:
Sometimes you get really pissed off, and need to vent.  Edward Norton, in 25th Hour, knowing he goes to prison the following day, unleashes a torrent of hate at everyone and everything is this monologue to himself, in what can only be called a panacea of profanity.

Battle of Movie Moments: The Exorcism of Jonah Hill vs. Since U Been Gone Medley

Your Champion
The Exorcism of Jonah Hill (This Is The End)

VS.

Since U Been Gone Medley (Pitch Perfect)

The Case for The Exorcism of Jonah Hill (1):
Things go south very quickly for the cast of This Is The End, culminating in the demonic possession of Jonah Hill.  His friends gather around to try to exorcise him of the demon in what starts off as a fairly serious scene.  Then it becomes clear that Jay (Jay Baruchal) has no idea what he is doing, and it degenerates from that point on until (hilariously) no one is even paying attention to the demon possessed person they share a room with.

The Case for Since U Been Gone Medley:
Featuring most of the main cast, this moment in Pitch Perfect is a great introduction to several of the periphery characters while demonstrating just how much work goes into an acapella arrangement - mixing those singing the notes with those singing the melody in a celebration of the form, to the tune of one of Kelly Clarkson's biggest hits.

Battle of Movie Moments: Best. Death. Ever. vs The Exorcism of Jonah Hill

Your Champion
Best. Death. Ever. (Meet Joe Black)

VS

The Exorcism of Jonah Hill (This Is The End)

The Case for Best. Death. Ever. (1):
Meet Joe Black tells the tale of Death coming to visit an older to man to learn about life.  But in order to meet with Bill (Anthony Hopkins), he must first find a body to inhabit.  And he does, in a shocking - yet hilarious - scene.

The Cast for The Exorcism of Jonah Hill:
Things go south very quickly for the cast of This Is The End, culminating in the demonic possession of Jonah Hill.  His friends gather around to try to exorcise him of the demon in what starts off as a fairly serious scene.  Then it becomes clear that Jay (Jay Baruchal) has no idea what he is doing, and it degenerates from that point on until (hilariously) no one is even paying attention to the demon possessed person they share a room with.

Battle of Movie Moments: Be Prepared vs. Best. Death. Ever

Your Champion
Be Prepared (The Lion King)

VS

Best. Death. Ever. (Meet Joe Black)

The Case for Be Prepared (1):
Continuing a tradition of the villain having one of the best songs in the movie, The Lion King gives Scar one of the better villain songs in the canon.  The song is beautifully animated, using sickly greens to emphasize the sliminess of the villain while also using a Nazi-type march with the hyenas to show just how bad of news they were.  All villain songs should be this good.

Battle of Movie Moments: Church Fight vs. Be Prepared

Your Champion
Church Fight (Kingsman: The Secret Service)

VS

Be Prepared (The Lion King)

The Case for Church Fight (2):
Sometimes a movie shocks you with violence, and sometimes it does it with an amazingly choreographed fight scene.  Kingsman combines the two for a brutal moment in a church where the villain causes everyone to go into a rage and start attacking each other.  Highly trained Kingsman Harry Hart is also there and adds to the carnage.

The Case for Be Prepared:
Continuing a tradition of the villain having one of the best songs in the movie, The Lion King gives Scar one of the better villain songs in the canon.  The song is beautifully animated, using sickly greens to emphasize the sliminess of the villain while also using a Nazi-type march with the hyenas to show just how bad of news they were.  All villain songs should be this good.
